Group 1 selection is three-tiered. Prelims is a screening test (not counted for merit) but you need 120–135+ to clear category cut-offs.
Mains (3 × 250) and Interview (100) form the 850-mark merit list. Tamil eligibility (300 marks) remains qualifying but must be cleared first.

Preliminary Exam Pattern
Objective paper in offline OMR mode. Marks are not added to merit but determine mains eligibility.

Mains Exam Pattern
Three descriptive papers evaluated for merit plus a separate Tamil eligibility paper (qualifying).

Compulsory Tamil Paper
300 marks · qualifying. Evaluated first; other papers are considered only if 40% is secured.
